Feelin’ Almost Human Again
I’ve come up from the bottom
Rising slow but rising sure
Upset my own suspicions
About what a heart can endure
Admitted to my stubborn self
What sorry shape I was in
Learning love and self-respect
Feeling almost human again
I’ve learned to quiet voices
That were leading me astray
Come to trust my own truth
And travel my own way
Unperturbed and undisturbed
By cruel and petty men
This life I lead is mine alone
Feeling almost human again
I’ve had enough doubt and fear
For all of us combined
Settled for a life I loathed
Been worried and resigned
I pray this new beginning
Is more than just pretend
Cuz I can’t wait to meet myself
Feeling almost human again
