I Wouldn’t Be Here Today
I wouldn’t be here today
If Great Grandma hadn’t had poor taste
That man ran out on her
Left four kids in his wake
I wouldn’t be here today
Grandma thought divorce was a sin
Stayed together for the children
By the time that third one came
She was depressed as she’d ever been
I wouldn’t be here today
Mama knew something was amiss
On the cusp of leaving came a third kid
She was a fool to stay that long
But God I’m glad she did
Or I wouldn’t be here today
I watch my step, proceed with care
Try to make the right move
Every time and everywhere
But without the bad decisions
And mistakes that people made
I wouldn’t be here today
