A sequel to goodbye, facebook:
ten months later
maybe i was a little melodramatic before
emerging from a blue fugue
the sky has not fallen
it was just a website
it was only ever just a website
my departure didn’t hasten its end
or mine
just a ripple
here and gone
i know less of what’s happening with you
(hope life is swell)
and more of what’s happening with me
but can articulate less of it
in the readily comprehensible fashion
that results from an image kept
tended to
worried over
me?
who knows?
i’m here
see for yourself
or don’t
you’ve got a life to live
may you live it from an ever deeper well
of knowing
and contentment
and courage
casting only necessary glances toward
the hall of mirrors
rattling in your pocket

I took a four month break for the sake of self care. it felt a bit surreal when I started back up in the new year with self-imposed rules (mainly staying away from the news feed). glad to hear an update on you post-fb.
Chris Wilcox says
Four months is a substantial break. Kudos to you.
Staying away from the news feed was a months-long phase in my ill-fated “how can I use the good part of this without quitting completely” experiment.

Wow, that is great! I especially liked your wording at the end.
Chris Wilcox says
Thank you, Jamel.
